The power...its drifting...

Its July tomorrow, the time when the secondary four cadets in NCC step down, that includes me. Pretty sad. Tomorrow is NCC day, feels like a kick in the head reminding me, "Its not gonna last" cause the secondary fours are not present even though they are still in power. Stepping down next week. I can really feel all that power just vanishing. I'm really gonna miss NCC both being a cadet and being an instructor. All those push ups, shouting, pushing yourself all coming to an end. The curtains are closing on my secondary school performance and being able to just peek through the gaps of the curtains seems really saddening.

*zombie sounds*

Yup, school has started and what a WONDERFUL way to start it with a test until 1713! On top of that, the timetable was changed its simply THE BEST! We have 1 hours 10 minutes of maths with Mrs Fu and after that another 1 hour 10 minutes or additional maths with Mr Kang on Monday. You know what kind of mental distress that can give you? We also have 2 hours and 20 minutes of Biology. simply perfect.

Feel like bitching about the changes in our school right now so if you're not interested, RUN! Those people who know me should already know how I feel about the school. The school is changing, but it think its changing in the wrong way. Please understand that I know change is important for progress I just think that its going to the wrong way and i think we both know who's responsible for it. When i came to Tanjong Katotng Secondary School with a PSLE score of 257 (That was pretty high at that time, possibly the highest in my cohort in TK) in 2005, I came to this school not because it had an air-conditioned auditorium and x number of computer labs. When i came ot this school I felt a culture, The TK culture, it was unique to TK. You could feel the warmpth of the seniors, the strive to do well despite the fact that we didn't have a fancy name like Raffles or Victoria. We had a name that sounded like any other neighborhood school "Tanjong Katong" simple and malay-ish. Reminds you of kampongs and Singapore culture and the school lived up to it. It was friendly and you felt safe. Your closest friends would be your classmates or CCA friends there was no need for some silly house system to bond us together.
In my opinion, i think that TK is becoming like any other school. I think that we are becoming less unique. We can maintain our unique TK spirit while progressing. I'll give an example on how TK is becoming like any other school. We have an air-conditioned hall now, I know you're thinking, 'but its not common for schools to have air-conditioned halls." Correct but i would like to ask you, "How many schools dream of having an air-conditioned hall?" We can be unique by not having an air-condition hall.

On the topic of the air conditioned hall, are we attracting the right kind of students with this air-conditioned hall? In my opinion, not the right kind. The people that this would matter to would be those lazy, spoilt kids; no doubt they may score 290 for PSLE but let us think about those before us. Those that came to TK with lower scores but worked hard for their O's. TK was built on these hardworking students and i think that if lazy students come to TK, TK is doomed. I think that having an air-conditioned hall is not a good decision by the school. We all know how freezy the auditorium can get in one hour. Now think about sitting for a two hour exam in the auditorium that's that its gonna be like in the hall when we take our O's this year. If you bring in a jacket to warm yourself up, what's the point of having air-conditioning? Let me remind you that air-conditioning the hall requires A LOT of energy with oil at $140 per barrel. I don't think it will be very wise. This unneccessary oil usage is what's pushing the demand up like nobody's business even though it is. Also, with global warming taking taking its effect thanks to all the fossil fuel that's being burnt soon even more energy is needed to cool the hall. I am totally against the air-conditioned hall and i hope you agree with my opinion.

Sorry about the extremely long post. Thanks for reading

WOO HOO!

Last night/this morning was the first time in the 16 years of my life that i have slept 11 hours. Usually i am a very light sleeper and wake up pretty easily. I bet some of you are thinking "that must so great to wake up easily so you can't oversleep and save you the "pai-sei-ness" of being late." I guess its kinda good but its irritating cause sometimes i'll wake up after only 3 hours of sleep too refreshed to fall asleep but too sleepy to do any work.

Anyway, tomorrow is the first day of term 3. Choir folks won't be in school cause of the Russia trip and the band only gets to go to KL HA! in your face! Gonna turn into a zombie tomorrow! (Yup that's what TK does to you) but I think this holiday has been a really great break from school you'll only understand if you're from TK sec 4.

Went skating yesterday. Changed my wheels to rocker setup; that means that the two centre wheels are larger than the two outer ones. Its super maneuverable compared to flat where all the wheels touch the ground at the same time. Spinning is super easy now woot!

time takes its toll

Time can take its toll on people and things. Today's post in dedicated to my skates (lol) they've served me for 4 years and in that time its got pretty banged up to say the least. But it think it was the most worthwhile $150 i have spent. Its a second hand Salomon Motion 9 its a actually meant to be used as a speed skating trainer. Not too good for freestyle slide but still usable. Served me pretty well. Good for speed but bad for freestyle. extremely easy to put on as well.
Here's a picture of a brand new side.

In comparison..

yup there's a hole

Applied epoxy resin to protect my skates from getting another hole. Replaced the laces as well.

And the frame is dented inwards. The wheels are worn to the core as well.

As you can see, the sides have loads of scratches too.

The frame (the part holding the wheels) is scratched as well.

Hoping to get Seba FR1's after O's.

Rarr!!

A quote from the incredible hulk, "Rarr!!" Yup went to watch the incredible hulk today. Az won two tickets for a movie marathon and i went with him. Missed Kung Fu Panda cause Miss Seah was being a bitch and wouldn't let Az leave DnT.

At least we caught the other movie, The Incredible Hulk. It was exaggerated and inaccurate to say the least. CG was good (you could see the Hulk's veins pulsating in 1 scene) . Fight scenes were good but i think there were too few fight scenes considering that its an action movie (only two considerable fight scenes). Overall i would give a 3.5 /5 for this movie.

Won a mini water dispenser from Acuvue for answering a quiz correctly :DYour friendly neighborhood stalker

Rain, rain go away...

Went out with church people today to the beach and while i was there i noticed how much we Singaporeans complain. First it was too hot*complains*, then it rained*complains*. There's no pleasing Singaporeans is there? Anyway on a more light-hearted topic, i found out that if you dig deep enough into the beach you will reach a part where the sand becomes clayey, you can take that clay and make clay balls :D of course add some water to stick the clay together.

On another totally irrelevant t0pic, here are some pictures of my school. Yes, school can look good.

and here's a picture of my classroom

pretty peaceful eh?

Anyway, in other news, a game called spore (yes it resembles the short form for Singapore WOW! Get over it.) released a trial creature creator software. Pretty cool stuff. Here's a picture of a creature i created.

If you're interested in it, you can get it here.

Crushing sandwiches

If you're wondering why the name of my blog is "crushing sandwiches", no I don't partake in consuming or creating crushed sandwiches . I don't know why I called it that either. As for my url, i was inspired by a friend.

This blog is gonna be about anything random what I deem worthy of being on this sacred place. So trashy emo kids BEWARE! You will find no emo-ness here! Now run along kids; as for the real men. "TONIGHT, WE DINE IN HELL!!!"

I am that man hiding in you're closet a fourteen year old student in Tanjong Katong Secondary School. I skate, freestyle slide skating if you were wondering and studying for my O's is just a distraction. I am in the BEST CCA ever and that's NCC (sea). That's right band you're not the best remember? "the best display band of the year award goes to....."

Thanks for reading my first blogpost. you are watching history in the making!
